We’re back from Egypt!
While we were there, we rode a boat on the Nile River which runs through Cairo, Egypt’s capital. The Nile River Valley is where some of the world’s earliest civilizations once lived.

I live in Cairo in an apartment with my parents and my brother and sister.
For most days we have chicken or lamb with rice and aish baladi (flatbread). If we don’t have meat, we’ll eat kushari, which has rice, lentils, macaroni and a little tomato sauce.
I like to watch football (soccer) on television with my father.
My favorite time in Egypt is during Eid al-Fitr. That is a three-day festival to celebrate the end of the month of Ramadan. During Ramadan, grown-ups don't eat while the Sun is up. For Eid al-Fitr, my family celebrates by visiting our cousins. My grandparents give me new clothes. Also, my mother bakes cookies, called kahk, which are filled with dates or pistachios and covered with powdered sugar. Eid al-Fitr is a lot of fun!
